Foundation

The purpose of the foundation is to preserve Tibetan Buddhist culture, a culture of peace and non-violence.

Due to her connections with Tibetan Buddhist culture, the founder feels a sense of responsibility for the welfare of Tibetans – particularly in her home country, Switzerland. Over many years of voluntary work, the founder recognised that the support for Tibetans in Switzerland could be improved. Unfortunately, it was not possible to meet these needs through personal donations alone. A foundation was required to address the specific issues.

Application for support grants must clearly outline how the project relates to the foundation’s stated objectives. To apply for funding, please complete the form provided on the Tsering Foundation website. Applications are accepted in English or German. Applications can be submitted by contact form.

The decision on any support request is made by the Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees is not obliged to justify its reasons for rejecting an application.

We reserve the right to draw up a contract with the applicant, particularly in the case of large sums of money or multi-year projects.

After the completion of an approved project or, at the latest, one year after receiving support from the foundation, you undertake to report on how the funding was used and the objectives achieved. Where multi-year funding is provided, the applicant must report annually. A report of this kind provides information on the following:

  • Objective achieved (where possible with confirmation by a third party)
  • Use of funding (financial statement/annual report)

The Foundation will apply for the “ZEWO” certification and submit to its guidelines as soon as the required two years since establishment have been reached.

Bequests and donations can be deducted from taxes.

„If you ask people what their purpose in life is, very few have a clear answer, though many people would wish for it. My answer to that question is very simple: the purpose of life is to be happy. And a shared purpose – a shared wish for happiness – is a precondition for people to identify with an organization.”
