Covid-19 India

India is facing a Covid-19 crisis on a catastrophic scale. It is probably the biggest challenge the country has encountered since Partition in 1947. Tibetan Buddhist culture is closely linked to India, as Buddhism originated in the country. Since fleeing Tibet, India has been the second home of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. In addition, more than 100,000 Tibetans live in India today. The Tsering Foundation therefore took the decision to finance the purchase of food, oxygen, disinfectant and medicines. This aid was delivered to New Delhi (Majnu Ka Tilla and Punjab Basti area) in April 2021. A further relief operation will take place in Dharamsala in May 2021.

The Tsering Foundation would like to thank the following individuals and organisations for distributing the donated items:

– Nechung Monastery, Dharamsala, India

– Tibetan Settlement Office, Dharamsala, India

– Mr Ngawang Jigdol, New Delhi, India

– RTWA Delhi Samyeling (Regional Tibetan Women’s Association, India)

– Tibetan Youth Congress, New Delhi, India
